The Vito Automatic R was introduced in about 1963. It has a 50 mm. f/2.8 Lanthar lens in a Prontor-Lux scaleless shutter. The camera also has an accessory shoe and a cable release socket. A viewfinder display indicates the aperture selected, but the automatic selection may be switched off. There is a coupled rangefinder and quick-focus zone markings on the distance scale. A red/green signal in the brightline viewfinder indicates whether a picture will be correctly exposed at the selected shutter speed, given the prevailing light conditions. In about 1964 the camera specification was changed to use the Prontormatic 125 shutter. The camera cost about £41 in 1964. In about 1965, the lens was changed to the f/2.8 50 mm.
