Cine Projectors - Standard-8

GB-Bell & Howell 606H Standard 8 Projector, 400 foot maximum spool size, 1 inch f/1.6 Proval lens, 500 w 240 v A1/47 lamp (long obsoltet and difficult to find today), no separate transformer required. Variable speed. Believed by some to be the best 8 mm. projector ever made. This appears to be a late model. Good 3 metre lead, copy instructions, mint condition in original box and packing. Bell & Howell Autoload 266 (made in U.S.A.), lamps for this machine are not easy to find but we have them, 400 foot maximum spool size, forward and reverse and quite bright still picture, fully variable projection speed, good autothreading through the gate, Filmovara 17 mm. to 27 mm. f/1.6 lens, slow motion, 150 watt 21.5 volt lamp. film trimmer, integral case. A well made machine in excellent condition. A fine machine, ideal for copying. (25725) £75.

Eumig Mark S (sold for parts only), sound head and amplifier work superbly but film transport is poor and internal speaker is inoperative. Lighting ok, runs forward at 24 f.p.s. but not at all at 18 f.p.s. (19190) £21.50.

Eumig P26 c. 1955, 400 ft. maximum spool, 2 cm. f/1.4 Eupronar lens, variable speed, forward and reverse projection, lamp on/off switch, still, power rewind requires belt change, 500w 115v A1/7 lamp, original fibreboard case, excellent condition and working well but we must sell it as a collectable item, not suitable for normal use. Eumig P8 Original Model, 400 foot maximum spool size, 100 watt 12 volt A1/186 lamp, forward projection only, continuously variable speed for effective copying, excellent manual rewind, 15 mm. to 25 mm. f/1.3 Eupro-Zoom lens, copy instructions, new belt fitted, an excellent machine giving a bright picture. Eumig P8 Automatic Take Up Spool, characteristic very wide design to take automatic film feed fingers, will also fit later models with similar requirements. Hard to find. (25278) £8.

Paillard Bolex 18-5 Automatic, 400 foot maximum spool, 50 watt 8 volt lamp, forward and reverse with or without lamp, 5 f.p.s. slow motion, easy load automatic threading, provision for room lighting, Paillard Bolex HiFi 12.5 mm. to 25 mm. f/1.3 zoom lens, new belts fitted, superb performance, excellent condition but stick-on label missing from front cover. Fred thinks this is the best 8 mm. projector. (25752) £100.

Cine Projectors - Super-8

Most Super-8 silent cine projectors were designed to project Standard-8 films also. Most sound projectors were for Super-8 only. Please see below under Dual-Gauge Projectors.

Bell & Howell Autoload 356X, maximum spool size 400 ft., 15 mm. f/1.6 non-zooming lens, 150w 21.5v A1/18 lamp (not easy to find), forward and reverse projection, integral case and take-up spool, a quality American machine in excellent condition. (21991) £56.50.

Bell & Howell Super 8 Cine Projector, 400 feet maximum spool size, 150w 21v DNP lamp, 15 mm. to 25 mm. f/1.5 B & H lens, forward and reverse projection with or without lamp, still projection, a high quality machine. Mechanism covers are made from die-cast metal and the painted finish has flaked off. Needs repainting, otherwise in excellent condition. (23314) £112.50.

Boots Comet P122 Super 8 Projector, 400 foot maximum spool, 100 watt 12 volt A1/231 lamp, forward and reverse with or without lamp, projects at 18/24, 6/8, 3/4, and still, plus fully variable speed. Ideal for copying. This machine should be dual gauge but a previous owner has lost the Standard-8 Converter. There is also no front cover. But it is still an excellent machine for Super 8. Chinon Sound SP 330 Super 8 Projector. Takes up to 600 foot maximum spool. 100 watt 12 volt A1/231 lamp. 15.5 to 30 mm. f/1.3 lens. Forward and reverse projection with or without lamp. Usual sound facilities. Near mint condition but it is forty years old! (25643) £150.

Eumig S938 Stereo sound projector, 800 ft. maximum spool size, 14 mm. to 30 mm. f/1.3 Eumig Optical Level System lens, 150w 15v A1/232 lamp, plays back normal sound films superbly, but comprehensive sound control system is neither tested nor guaranteed. Cosmetically mainly excellent but has clearly been used. Volume control knob broken off but control can still be used. Lead for synch. system. Speed control 18 and 24 f.p.s. This machine will only be sold after examination by the purchaser. Bracket for anamorphic lens. (20285) £99.

Paillard Bolex 18/5L Super Super-8 Cine Projector, 400 ft. maximum spool size, Paillard Bolex Hi-Fi 14 mm. to 25 mm. f/1.3 lens (the best lens made for Super-8), original Philips A1/224 75w 12v lamp (hard to find), forward and reverse with or without lamp, 5 f.p.s. slow motion, runs well in all modes, autofeed switch working, externally case is a little shabby but all labels are present. A rare opportunity today. Lamp conversion to readily-available 75w 12v A1/230 is possible for those with the skill and patience. (554) £150.

Prinz Compere 8 Luxe Super 8 Projector, 400 foot maximum spool size, 50 watt 8 volt A1/17 lamp, 17 mm. to 30 mm. f/1.6 Prinz Zoom lens, forward with or without lamp, reverse with lamp, rewind or rewind through the gate, good autothreaading, a nice little machine made by Eumig. Mint in box and packing, copy instructions. (25566) £80.

Prinz Magnon LV Super 8 Cine Projector, 400 feet maximum spool size, 50w 8v A1/17 lamp, 20 mm. to 32 mm. f/1.5 lens, forward and reverse projection with or without lamp, auto threading through the gate, cosmetically and operationally excellent but it runs a little slow. Should be possible to rectify this as motor runs well without load. Original packing and box. (23313) £36.

Cine Projectors - Dual Gauge

These are cine projectors which have been designed to cover the Super-8 frame, but which are also adaptable (more or less easily) to project Standard-8 films. They are usually excellent for Super-8, always less good for Standard-8 films than a proper Standard-8 projector.

Bell & Howell 421 Dual Gauge Cine Projector, 400 foot maximum spool size, 75w 12v A1/230 lamp, 16.5 mm. to 30 mm. Isco Vario-Kiptagon zoom lens, forward projection with or without lamp, reverse projection with lamp, rewind through the gate or direct, variable speed, an excellent budget-priced machine, but needs leader on films. Chinon 2000GL Dual Projector, 400 foot maximum spool size, 50 watt 8 volt A1/17 lamp, 18 mm. to 30 mm. f/1.5 zoom lens, film trimmer, forward and reverse projection with or without lamp, fast rewind, still projection at reduced brightness, continuously variable speed. Chinon Universal 8 Projector, 400 foot maximum spool size, 100 watt 12 volt A1/215 lamp, forward and reverse with or without lamp. Variable speed makes it suitable for copying. Note special lead (very rare) is easily damaged and should be used only by a competent electrician. This is an early unusual and well made Japanese machine. Near mint condition. Copy instructions. Original box and plastic cover. This machine offers scope for various improvements in the hands of a qualified person. (25581) £50.

Cinerex 727 Dual Gauge Cine Projector, 400 foot maximum spool size, 50 watt 8 volt A1/17 lamp, forward and reverse projection with and without lamp, still projection, easy gauge change using switch, variable speed of projection making it good for copying, copy instructions, mint condition in original packing. Eumig Mark 501 Dual Gauge Projector, 400 foot maximum spool size, 50 watt 8 volt A1/17 lamp, film loading/slow motion/forward low light/forward high light/power rewind. Rewind through the gate does not always work. Easy gauge change. Very good condition. (25354) £70.

Eumig 614D Dual 8 Projector, 400 foot maximum spool size, 100 watt 12 volt A1/231 lamp, forward and reverse projection, 18/9/6 frames per second, rewind direct or through the gate, 17 mm. to 39 mm. f/1.4 Eupronet M/C zoom lens, spool adapter for standard 8 spools, a late model in mint condition in substantial case. Noris Record SMD Dual 8 Projector, 400 foot maximum spool size, fixed speeds 18 and 24 f.p.s., slow motion, good automatic threading, gauge change requires change of gate and sprockets (quite easy). 100 watt 12 volt A1/231 dichroic lamp/ Vario-Travenon 16.5 to 30 mm. f/1.5 zoom lens, which has better than average performance. A high quality machine in near mint condition. (25416) £120.

Prinz Magnon Duo Projector. Note: a good machine but it requires patience to thread the film. It is essential that films have good leader. 400 foot maximum spool size. 50 watt 8 volt A1/17 lamp. Reliable autothreading with good leader. Forward and reverse with lamp on or off. Fully variable speed (ideal for copying).
